Becoming one with stylization

For this project, our pals at Duft Watterson wanted to create a set of regional campaign images that were as vibrant and stylized as possible while still retaining the realism of exterior environments. "Is it possible?" they asked. After some research and dusting off our retouching skills, we responded with a resounding LET'S GO! But we knew it would require the perfect team...

Art department are actual heroes

The corner stone of this project relied on a strong art department, clear art direction, considered props, and perfect locations. Our team worked with Duft Watterson and the amazing art department duo, Willow Socia and Lila Streicher, to formulate a plan to build beautiful, fully stylized worlds that playfully pushed the border of reality each step of the way.

Color. Color. Color.

In order to push the images as far as possible into the graphic, stylistic territory required for the campaign, we took an approach to retouching that isolated every primary color in the scene and unified all other colors to that core hue. This simplified the images visually, producing an almost animated appearance while remaining true to the practical production of the process. At the end of the day, these photos were all about color!
